State of the Design Justice Demands—July 2020

As the Design Justice Demands are distributed to leaders across the design and architecture professions, we will regularly track and evaluate the industry’s commitment to ending its support of the carceral state and reversing the harmful roles that design, architecture, and urban planning have played in the dehumanization and violence against black people. The “State of the Demands” series will provide updates on the pledges that have been made by design leaders across universities, agencies, membership organizations, and industry conveners while additionally identifying gaps and opportunities for increased field commitment.
